On a winter-morn March 1st 1987 in Brampton, Ontario Canada, a beautiful rose “Shian Henry” was born under the zodiac sign of Pisces. Assiduous, goal oriented, intelligent, spiritual and vibrant are a few words which describe her.
Miss Henry migrated to Antigua where she has been living for the last nineteen (19) years. Being raised and molded in the sea-side Estate of Ffrye’s has shaped her into the culturally aware, down to earth West Indian Queen that she is today.
Shian is a former student of the Bolans Primary, The Jennings Secondary School, Cardinal Leger Secondary School and The Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning where she was an active student who participated in various school activities.
In her teen years she has played pan with the J.S.S Steel Pan Orchestra, has been a former member of The Antigua & Barbuda National Combined School Choir in addition to the J.S.S Debate team which won the championship in 2002.
While attending The Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning her major was Business Administration. However, she was blessed with a beautiful baby boy who changed the direction of her life, career focus and goals. Hence; she now has a passion having been inspired by her son to study Pediatric Medicine and specializing in treating cancer patients as well as working with autistic children. To present, she has been working on different ways of fulfilling her goal in order to obtain her degree in Pediatric Medicine. However she has yet to come by the means to bring this ambition into fruition.
Miss Henry has always been interested in pageantry and has now decided to rise to the challenge of entering The Miss Homecoming Pageant 2009. She believes that this pageant will be an integral step in realizing her ambitions. It is within her highest expectancy to be crowned Miss Homecoming 2009 and be a cultural ambassador as well as a role model for both women and youth alike.
