Antigua's 28th Independence

This year’s homecoming queen show was a welcome reduction in time and sideshows, but the talent lived up to the expectations of prior years. In fact, some believe the quality of the performances of the delegates surpassed those of previous shows.

The official handing over of sponsorship cheques for the 2009 Homecoming Queen Pageant was held last at the House of Culture. Minister of Culture, Carnival and National Parks, Eleston Adams; Acting Director of Culture, Gilbert Laudat; Homecoming subcommittee representative Makisa Baptiste and Townhouse Mega Store/Hitachi representative, Cordel Josiah, were among those present. Josiah said Mansoor and Sons, who has been serving the Antiguan public for over 40 years, is pleased to make a contribution to the pageant.
